Microneedling with PRF

Renew Your Skin With Your Body's Own Growth Factors
Your skin has a natural ability to renew itself, but factors such as aging, sun exposure, and environmental stress can gradually affect its texture, firmness, and overall appearance. Microneedling with PRF combines collagen-stimulating microneedling with platelet-rich fibrin derived from your own blood to support this natural renewal process.
This combination treatment helps address concerns such as fine lines, uneven texture, acne scars, and dullness. At Muse MedSpa, Microneedling with PRF offers a personalized approach to skin rejuvenation, helping you achieve a smoother, refreshed complexion without relying on synthetic fillers.

How Microneedling with PRF Works
Microneedling creates tiny, controlled microchannels in the skin, triggering a natural healing response that encourages collagen and elastin production. When combined with PRF, the treatment incorporates growth factors obtained from your own blood.
PRF is prepared by drawing a small blood sample and processing it in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets and fibrin. These components play important roles in the body's normal tissue repair processes.
During treatment, the PRF preparation may be applied to the skin alongside microneedling, depending on the provider's protocol. This combination is intended to support skin rejuvenation and improve overall texture and appearance, although research into the additional cosmetic benefits of PRF is still developing.
What to Expect From Microneedling with PRF
Your appointment begins with a skin assessment and a small blood draw to prepare your PRF. While the sample is processed, your skin is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to help minimize discomfort.
A microneedling device is then passed over the treatment areas, creating controlled microchannels while PRF is incorporated according to your provider's technique.
Following treatment, your skin may appear red or feel warm and tight, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects typically improve within a few days, although recovery varies depending on treatment depth and individual skin sensitivity.
As your skin recovers, improvements in texture and radiance may become noticeable. Collagen remodeling develops gradually over several weeks, and a series of treatments may be recommended for concerns such as acne scarring or more pronounced textural irregularities.

Aftercare Recommendations
Your skin may feel sensitive following Microneedling with PRF as the treated areas begin to recover. Temporary redness, mild swelling, dryness, or tightness are common during the first few days. Keeping your skincare routine gentle and following your provider's instructions can help minimize irritation and support proper healing. Because the treatment creates temporary microchannels in the skin, it's especially important to avoid products or activities that could introduce irritation or contamination during the initial recovery period.
Post-Treatment DO's:
Limit sun exposure and follow your provider's recommendations for sun protection.
Use gentle, provider-approved skincare products to keep your skin comfortable and hydrated.
Allow your skin time to recover and follow your recommended treatment schedule.
Post-Treatment DON'Ts:
Avoid exfoliating acids, retinoids, and other irritating skincare ingredients until cleared by your provider.
Do not pick, scratch, or aggressively rub treated areas while your skin heals.
Avoid strenuous workouts, saunas, and excessive heat during the initial recovery period as directed.
Any Questions?
Both treatments use preparations derived from your own blood. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, concentrates platelets in a liquid plasma preparation, while PRF, or platelet-rich fibrin, incorporates a fibrin matrix that can retain platelets and growth factors. The preparation methods and characteristics differ, but there is not enough consistent clinical evidence to conclude that PRF always produces better cosmetic results than PRP.
Microneedling may be appropriate for a range of skin types and tones, but individual suitability depends on skin condition, medical history, and treatment goals. Patients with active infections, certain inflammatory skin conditions, or a tendency toward abnormal scarring may require additional evaluation before treatment.
The number of sessions depends on your skin concerns and desired improvements. Some patients notice changes in skin texture and radiance after an initial treatment, while concerns such as acne scars and deeper textural irregularities may require a series of appointments. Your provider can recommend a treatment plan based on your skin's response.
Microneedling is commonly performed on the face but may also be considered for certain areas of the neck, chest, or body. Whether PRF can be incorporated depends on the treatment area, skin condition, and provider's protocol. A consultation can help determine which areas are appropriate.
